THE HAND STITCHED SADDLE STITCH

With the exception of one or two items everything here at ALDO ROSSI is stitched by hand using the traditional saddler's stitch. This technique was conceived more than a century ago by saddlers and harness makers to make all the hitch parts for horses at a time when horses were the main source of transportation and used on farms...

The main feature and what gives the saddle stitch superior strength to and machine stitch is that it is sewn using one thread with a needle at each end. The thread is passed through every hole from the front and again from the back.

On the other hand any stitch made by machine is essentially a lock stitch where the top thread always remains on top and the bottom thread is always on the bottom - which is why when you pull a loose thread the whole seam can come undone...

Besides it's inherent strength if any stitch is cut on a saddler's stitch line, the seam will never unravel
